Artist Biography
Born in Alexandria, Minnesota, Nicole Fischer has not lived a day without art impacting her life in some way. Her mother, a painter, holds responsibility for being the first artistic influence. Since before she could walk, Nicole was dabbling with her mother’s paints and brushes. Throughout her childhood, Nicole’s interest in drawing and painting became a favorite pastime and she frequently received loosely structured drawing lessons from her mother. At age eight, Nicole moved with her family to Menno, South Dakota. Within another three years, her family relocated in Aberdeen, and then again, after two years, to Watertown, SD.
Nicole’s pastime became more serious during high school and it was then that she decided to pursue art as a career. After graduating high school in Watertown, Nicole moved back to Aberdeen to major in art at Northern State University. It was not long before Nicole, spending so many hours at Northern’s painting studio, met her husband, artist, Nick Fischer. Future plans include graduating from NSU with majors in art and Spanish, continuing with graduate school, and teaching at college level.
